Information about Schneider Community Credit Union
Schneider Community Credit Union is a non-profit financial institution serving our members. Our purpose is to provide our credit union family with a professional, rewarding, friendly and nurturing atmosphere. With prudent financial practices we intend to grow at a reasonable, controlled pace by attracting new members and targeting specific services while maintaining our solvency. Schneider Community Credit Union is a financial cooperative that was incorporated in November 1967. We are open to all employees of Schneider National Inc, their affiliates, and anyone living or working in Brown County, Wisconsin. We are located at 2655 Holmgren Way, WI 54304 Green Bay Our full service facility has drive up teller access and was completed in 1980 and remodeled to provide additional space in 1990. After incorporating in 1967 application was made to the State Commissioner of Banking for a Credit Union Charter, which was granted on January 9, 1968. We started business in the basement of the Allied Furniture Moving Division of the Schneider, in space provided by our sponsor. It was a bit crude, as the first employees huddled behind the furnace for the first four years. Membership at that time was 74. Due to steady growth and the need for additional space in 1972, we rented a one room office from Hudson Sharp Credit Union at 2566 Gross St. in Green Bay. In August of 1976 another milestone was reached. At that point we arrived at the coveted $1 Million asset mark. As of August 30, 1976 assets totaled $1, 026, 424, and membership had grown to 1198. As assets grew and more products were offered, the need for a larger staff and more space again became a problem. Land was purchased in 1980 at our current location. By mid December our construction was completed and we began operating from our new facility. To better serve our members SCCU applied for a community charter, and the change was granted on September 22, 1981 allowing anyone working or living in Brown County, Wisconsin to join our credit union. On March 5, 1993 members approved a name change from Schneider Employees Credit Union to Schneider Community Credit Union . The credit union basement was flooded when torrential rains pelted the Green Bay area, need for additional space was obvious. This led to the expansion of our lobby and teller line. As we continue to grow we are adding more services for our members. Unlike other financial institutions our members own the credit union. Because we are not for profit, you reap the benefits in attractive deposit and loan interest rates.
